What causes a 404 error?
A 404 Error can be caused by a website or page no longer existing, moving a webpage’s location without a 301 redirect to the new URL, as the result of a broken link, or an incorrectly typed URL. Often times sites will design a 404 page that helps the user find what they were originally looking for. It may include a link to common pages or a site search. Ideally nobody ever sees your 404 page, so often you’ll find websites create clever or funny 404 pages.
